Fall colors

Just when I think I've got a schedule down with James he's got different plans. Lately James has been refusing to take his morning nap. This is a challenge for me because that's the time when I get to shower, straighten the house up a bit, and relax doing some reading or knitting. He isn't really fussy. He'll just play and talk to himself in his crib. So I can get somethings done but I feel like if I were only a little quieter he might fall asleep. He seems to be tired when I lay him down, and he's sometimes a little fussy when I go in to get him after about an hour. I think he needs the sleep, but "you can force wakefulness on sleep, but you cannot force sleep on wakefulness."

Yesterday was one of those days. James didn't take his morning nap and only slept for about 45 minutes in the early afternoon. There was about 4 hours until dinner and his bedtime routine so I had to think of something entertaining to do, quick! Luckily it was a sunny day, just a little chilly, perfect for the park. James loved crawling along the sidewalk and playground, crunching leaves in his hands. It's too bad I didn't do this more with James over the past couple of weeks. We had some professional photos taken here last weekend and James was to interested in taking in all the new sights that he wouldn't smile for the camera! Oh well, now we know. We won't have the pictures for another week or so, but I'll let you know when we do!

I couldn't leave Sadie out of the fun!

There are a lot of trails in Schenley Park that I haven't explored so I packed up James in my sling and we took Sadie for a walk. Nathan was just getting out of class so we met up with him too.

James had the bright idea of arching back to look up at the sky. Here's his view:

  1. I love the pic of you and James. The one with Sadie is precious too! How fast they grow up! Enjoy them while they're little. I know you are!

  2. Thanks, Teresa! I actually took that picture of me and James myself. I was surprised to see that he was smiling! It is just flying by! I can't believe James will be 1 year old in a month and a half! How are things with you and your beautiful family?

  3. Yeah I kinda figured that out. It turned out well. Those kinds of pics actually turn out better than those that take a lot of time in posing etc... Go figure eh? Things are well here. Aly is a 3rd grader now... (like I said...enjoy while LITTLE...) and busy with school and other activities. Hiroshi and I are fine as usual...!
