E-O-P and other letters

James has gotten in the habit of asking for the alphabet song. He does this by randomly stringing a bunch of letters together. Something like "e-o-p ... e-O-P ... E-O-P" or "i-o ... I-O-I-O" gets repeated a few times until we start signing. It's pretty cute.

Since James seems to understand so much, Kara and I have started to spell things when we don't want him to know what we are talking about. Tonight at the dinner table, I asked Kara if it would be okay for James to have some "G-R-A-P-E-S" for dessert. As soon as I finished spelling, James smiled from ear-to-ear. I thought that he was learning to spell! Instead, he started laughing and exclaiming "e-o-p, e-o-p, E-O-P-O!" between his giggles.

Apparently he thought I was asking Kara to sing me the alphabet song. :)
