Day 5: Rust, Austria
The weekends were the highlights of our trip because our hosts were off work and could take us out of Vienna. On Saturday we drove about an hour out of the city to a village on a lake. Most villages in Austria were built around the church. It's amazing to see their history! Each one that we visited had a maypole, and the village of Rust actually had a tree as their maypole. Part of the village's wall from the 1500's was still there and you could see hole where an archer would be to protect the village. Of course I didn't get any pictures of this but what was also fascinating was the stork nests on the chimneys!
We didn't see much else here, but James got to experience his first Austrian playground. They have the normal slides, but check out the rest of the fun playgroup equipment. I didn't get too much on camera because most of it was over James's abilities.
Nathan and Tim couldn't resist the kid in them!
